SPL Sunday April 30th Hearts 3 Celtic 0 1:0 McManus
o.g. 4 Att: 16,795 MIB: Alan Freeland Celtic: Boruc Telfer Varga McManus Wilson Nakamura Lennon Keane Maloney Hartson Dublin subs
Same story as last week: Celtic had the slippers on after a long season's graft, the other mob had everything to play for and went about their business with their teeth clenched and their nostrils flaring - or the other way round in the case of Steven Pressley. Unlike last week the team with their season on the line actually managed a few shots on goal. While the Cousins of William had reason enough to celebrate at the end, what made this result a bit easier to take was the effect it must have had on their blues brothers at the other end of the M8. They were going bonkers. And before they start with the conspiracy theories, Freeland must have been in on it as well, since he allowed a dodgy free-kick goal by Hartley, as well as his linesman, who allowed Bednar to score an offside goal to make it three. We'll be expecting his apology for that decision via the Daily Rectum on Monday, by the way. Yes, a sore one indeed, but at least there was nothing at stake. Not like that other time when Celtic and Hearts were fighting it out for the title until the last day of the season. In case you'd forgotten that this was the twentieth anniversary of that famous day at Love Street, a day which saw the birth of the Albert Kidd CSC! |
