SPL Saturday March 4th Celtic 3 Aberdeen 0 1:0 Petrov 66 Att: 60,018 MIB: Mike McCurry Celtic: Boruc
Telfer Balde McManus Wilson Petrov Lennon Keane Maloney Zurawski Hartson Now which game were you watching, the same one as me? Or the same one as Jimmy Calderwood and most of the press? Well matched contest? Scoreline that flattered Celtic? Eh? The first half - Aberdeen goalie has the game of his life. Never again will this keeper make the number and variety of saves that he made on this occasion. Artur Boruc? Asleep on the 6 yard line, not required, unused, redundant. Second half - Aberdeen get a chance! A good chance! Hosanna! But they make a mess of it. Boo. Celtic proceed up the pitch and finally start to get their shots behind the 'keeper, ergo a 3-0 win. In fact a more one sided game would be difficult to find. Hell, Dunfermline had more attempts on goal than us when we beat them 8-1. Aberdeen barely managed a shot here. The big talking point after the match was the decision to put Petrov up front to replace Hartson (that's how tight the game was - we could put our central midfielder on the forward line!). Suppose it makes a change from our centre forward forcing Petrov out on to the wing. And hats off to the Aberdeen defence for their excellent game of 'Thump the ball against each other' that allowed Shaun 'Player of the Year' Maloney to grab his goal. A clean sheet? Can't have been -this was a really tight well matched contest you know. Hooray |
