SPL Saturday January 22nd Celtic 2 Motherwell 0 1:0
Petrov 32 Att: 58,438 MIB: Ian Fyfe Celtic:
Earlier in the season the Diary conceded that Hibs should have beaten us at Celtic Park and commented on the curious fact that formerly phsycotic players often make for managers who prefer a more cultured approach to the game. Now there's no way in heaven or earth that Motherwell deserved anything from this game and we're not about to become huge fans of Butcher but you do have to say that this Motherwell team are a damn site better than many of their predecessors. They actually tried to pass the ball and opposition players in possession of the ball weren't immediately clubbed to the ground. That said, we took them to school over how to play football. But then thatŐs true of almost any Scottish team that comes to Celtic Park. Star of the show again was Chris Sutton, surely the player of the year trophy can already be sent to the engravers. There's no one else even close, although I suppose the press might try and push forward Novo or Prso. Sutton took his goal well to wrap things up, and Petrov appears to be repeating his trick from last season; have a lousy first 4 months, pick up a goal at the turn of the year, never look back. Here's hoping. |
