SPL Saturday August 8th Celtic 2 Motherwell
0 Att: 57,245 MIB: Kenny Clark Celtic:

Varga Valgaeren McNamara Agathe Petrov Lennon Thompson McGeady Sutton
Hartson The unfurling of out third league flag in four years, and we're odds on to get this one as well. Our opponents today were managed by the man who will be the next to be strapped in to the Mordor hot seat if all the pub gossip is to be believed, but given that he signed an extension to his Fir Park contract a few days after this game (and would therefore cost the huns some money) I think we can safely forget about that. Motherwell are still no pretty sight, but they are a hell of a lot better than the 11 man tag wrestling team of the 90s, hence Petrov was carted off having gone over on his ankle all by himself (and looking a right fool in the process) as opposed to the traditional method of having one of the Steelmen kick him all the way into the infirmary without the need for any messing about on fancy stretchers. Three points were collected without too many scares (no sign of Hedman - coincedence?), McNamara coming up with a corker from the edge of the box to put us in front and Sutton picking where he left off last year to seal the win. Two points ahead already. |
