Yogi Hughes' team were certainly not short of optimism or fans - they brought a large vocal support convinced that they could defeat what the press considered to be a second string Celtic team. Instead they found themselves on the end of one of the hammering that we used to dish out on a regular basis to visiting wee teams, dished up by a team full of players desperate to prove their worth.

There weren't two minutes on the clock when Sylla ran through and opened the scoring. Within six minutes it was two as Wallace turned in a loose ball. Thereafter we simply ran them ragged.

So why was this such a scintillating performance when our league form has been so ordinary? Well clearly one reason was that Falkirk really fancied their chances and didn't set out to defend and hold out for a breakaway or penalties (they appeared to be unable to defend in any sort of way). But from our team the inclusion of just about every ball player presently at the club cannot be overlooked. We were immense and entertaining.

Now obviously I'm not going to advocate playing this type of team every week, but all the talk lately has been about how some fans are leaving early when they know the game is over. Well not too many people left this game very early, and it was over in six minutes, because the entertainment level was enormous.

The draw for the next round takes us to Ibrox, so it's unlikely that this starting 11 will be seen any time soon and that's a shame because this was a cracking display of fluid attacking football.
