WEDNESDAY March 2nd Premier League Celtic 3 Dundee 0 1:0 Petrov 49 Att: 52,500 MIB: Dougie McDonald Celtic: Douglas McNamara Balde Varga Laursen Petrov Lennon Sutton Thompson Bellamy Hartson subs Celtic drew 2:2 at Dens Park earlier this season. Incredible. This was one of the most obviously negative line ups seen in the last ten years at Celtic Park. Dundee simply weren't interested, although in the first half they were in good company. We weren't that bothered either. I'm not one for booing, but given that we rather desperately need to a) get all 3 points in every game from now to the end of the season and b) score as many goal in the process, the way we meandered about here for the first 45 inspired no one. The team was the same 11 that failed against Rangers, which was curious in itself. I thought Juninho had done well in the cup tie - albeit against Clyde - certainly well enough to start against Dundee. If MON isn't going to play him why did he buy him? The second half was much better; Jackie started getting his crosses in, and we managed to bag some goals - from some very unlikely sources as well. A Petrov goal at Celtic Park? A real Haley's comet that one. A Bobo Balde double? Here's hoping someone had a fiver on that. But they were just the bare stats, the second half was better because we were up for it, we played football, we looked interest and the crowd got going; especially after the news of the equaliser at Tynecastle. Of course the grand finale of that game caught all the headlines, yet no one was too surprised when they heard how the game in Edinburgh had ended. We have many obstacles in the run-in, not all of them appear in the fixtures list. |
