WEDNESDAY APRIL
13th Livingston 0 Celtic 4 0:1 Hartson 43
Att: 8,750 MIB: Mike McCurry Celtic: Marshall
McNamara Balde Varga Valgaeren Petrov Lennon Sutton Thompson Bellamy
Hartson This was a smugly satisfying result and one that had Orcs across Scotland choking on their own bile, as the Hoops hit pole position once more. It was a bit of a late show at Livi, but BBJ produced a hat-trick that propelled Celtic back to the top of the league Livi fought ( literally at times) like relegation dogs but it might have been an earlier and easier win had Bellamy converted a one on one in the first five minutes, or a Valgaeren goal been allowed to stand. With the half coming to an end and with Rubio having been sidelined for treatment - he injured himself hacking Bellamy - Celtic struck. A McNamara cross broke to Hartson, who buried the ball in the back of the Livi net. Celtic moved up a gear in the second period with Bellamy on fire and running Livi's defence ragged, but failing to convert chances. Despite a clear handball in the box by Vincze, Celtic were denied a penalty and the game looked as if it might fizzle out as a 1-0 result. Cue BBJ and with15 mins to go, he made it 2-0 with a back post header from a Thommo corner. His hat trick came courtesy of a penalty after being tumbled in the box. Varga made it 4:0 at the death with a tap in following shambolic defending from the home side. |
