SPL Saturday August 30th Celtic 5 Livingston 1 1:0 Larsson (25); 2:0 Maloney (38); 3:0 Larsson (56); 4:0 Larsson (78); 4:1 Lilley (85); 5:1 Thompson (90) Att: 57,165 MIB: Celtic It would appear that we won't be making the same mistake as last year goal difference wise. This time last year we were taking three points from teams like Hibs by beating them 1:0 and inadvertently hampering ourselves in the long-run. Our home record so far this season has been 10 goals in two games. Nice. Nearly everyone played a good game here; Thompson made up for his penalty howler with a fierce drive against the bar and a superb free kick; Maloney scored and generally played well; Larsson emerged from his two game scoring rut (?) and Liam Miller continued to look like just the sort of midfielder we've been crying out for. The only blot on the copy book comes in the shape of Magnus Hedman. As much as Larsson and Mjallby have been Swedish stars, on the evidence of his sporadic appearances between the sticks for the Hoops Hedman is looking very much like a muppet-tastic Swedish chef. Having almost given Dundee United a gift 1:0 lead he goes one better here by not only racing to the edge of the box to no good effect, but by getting in the way of Balde, thereby allowing Lilley the yard he needed to aim the ball goalward. Alright we were four up, but let's face facts sports fans, you couldn't let this guy within 50 yards of the first team dressing room on Old Firm day. |
