An early fright when United had the ball in the net after six minutes, but when that was disallowed for a foul on Balde the game settled down to a familiar SPL pattern. In other words, a gubbing.

The home fans were irate - as they often are these days - when Varga commited another foul having just been booked, but by that time the Hoops had taken the lead through Sutton, continuing to lead the line like a champion and banging in his fair share of goals into the bargain.

Once Larsson was shaken and stirred by Billy Dodds and responded by proceeding to dismantle United's defence almost single-handedly the only question was how many Celtic would win by. A good pre-Bayern morale boost.
